In cooperation with the London School of Economics the Annual Austrian History Lecture aims to broaden the understanding of the complexities of Austria’s rich and multifaceted history.
This year’s lecture entitled History reconfigured: Habsburg’s Imperial Symbolism and regional identities in the Visual Arts during the 19th and 20th Century, is given by Dr Werner Telesko (Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vienna). The lecture will examine how Habsburg visions and constructions of identity were reflected in the Arts in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and how the history of the Habsburg Empire was “reconfigured” and visualised after the fundamental break in tradition of the year 1918.
